Wellington Racing organisers are expecting another cracker day at the races for the Pacific Jewellers
Wellington Cup Day, and the Wellington Racing Carnival days leading up to it.
Wellington Racing spokesperson Julia Shardlow says Trentham will be the place to be during the Carnival. ' 'It's one of those things - if you're a
Wellingtonian, it's on your calendar as a thing to do.''
Trentham race course typically hosts a massive turnout of about 20,000 people for Pacific Jewellers Wellington Race Day, and Ms Sharlow
says even more are expected this year. ' 'It's great, it's a fabulous event, this is Wellington's biggest race day.' '
A wide range of hospitality options are available for the Carnival and Race Day, with details and pre-purchase options online at trentham.co.nz.
' 'At this stage we still have a couple of corporate boxes available on all three days of the Carnival, and seats at some of the restaurants and
marquees, but people are encouraged to get in quick,' ' Ms Shardlow says.
Saturday January 19: Telegr aph Day Trentham Wine and Racing Festival
The first day of the carnival will be a treat. Boutique wineries, delicious foods, and live entertainments will fill a marquee in the forecourt, so
racegoers can enjoy gourmet food and wine along with the day's racing excitement.
Race course admission (including free entry to the Wine Village) is $15 for adults, children 12 and under: $10, and children under five: free.
Gates open: 10.00am and racing starts at 12:40pm.
Monday January 21 (Wellington Anniver sary) : Interislander Summer Festival Family Day Races
Get the family together for a day of fun at the r aces for all ages. Family Day turns up the carnival atmosphere with free entry for children -
including all rides and activities. Among the attractions will be bouncy castles, sack races on the track, kids' fashion in the field, face painting
and performances by Auckland childrens' entertainer s the Polka Dots.
Admission is $10 for adults, with free entry for those under 18 when accompanied by an adult. Gates open at 10am, and racing starts at 12:57pm.
Saturday January 26: Pacific Jewellers Wellington Cup Day
A day of glamour and fun, and a field of the best horses from throughout the country. Centre of the course The Pure Pavilion will be turning up the beats, with live music from The Black Seeds and Tiki Ta ane.
The Gazley Volkswagen Fashion in the Field programme runs alongside racing throughout the day (for more information see below), and an after-party will follow. Tables are still available at $840 for six people, or, for the first time individual seats
for $150 each.
A range of exclusive Wellington Cup Day hospitality options are
available for a day to enjoy (for more information see Hospitality).
Pre-purchased tickets are $20, and gate sales are $25, with children
under five free. Tickets to The Pure Pavilion are $55, including
Bus fares available from Wellington, Masterton and other stops
on the way to Trentham. Gates open at 10am, and racing starts at

Life Pharmacy Queensgate Classic Lady of the Carnival (prize: gift
basket of cosmetics from Life Pharmacy Queensgate).
Westfield Queensgate Contemporary Lady of the Carnival (prize:

Rembrandt Man of the Carnival (prize: made to measure suit from
Pacific Jewellers Mature Lady of the Carnival (prize: $2000 Pacific
Caci Clinic Lower Hutt Colour of the Carnival, public opinion poll -
this year: pastels, (prize: tbc).
Hat of the Carnival, (prize: tbc).
Winners from each category are eligible for the Ga zley VW Supreme
Fashion Winner title, (prize: a trip for two to Sydney, and 12 months
or 20,000km use of a brand new VW Golf Cabriolet).

Trentham offers plenty of options for great seating, entertainment,
dining and bars, with corporate boxes, member s seating, two
restaurants, two cafe-bars and a kiosk.
Racegoers are also welcome to enjoy the atmosphere with a picnic
on the public lawn (please note no BYO is allowed at Trentham
On Wellington Cup Day more options will be offered to cater for
demand, with tables in The Lawn reserved area - with bar, or
reser ved undercover bench seating. Mini-marquees are available
for private groups, or join in the fun at the Trackside Sensation
Marquee or Finishing Post Marquee
Bookings are also required for a place in the Terrace Restaurant
overlooking the birdcage, or at Oaks Dining in the Oaks Room.
Telegr aph Day: A Premier day, with ten races, including the $250
000 Telegraph Handicap (Group One), the $85 000 Wakefield
Challenge Stakes (Group Two), two $70,000 Group Three Stakes,
and the $50 000 Anniversary Handicap (Listed).
Family Day: A Feature day, including eight races.
Wellington Cup Day: A Premier day, with ten races, including the
$200 000 Pacific Jewellers 2013 Wellington Cup (Group Two), the
$200 000 Thorndon Mile (Group One), and the $70 000 Desert Gold
Stakes (Group Three).
